Maker Spaces are community-operated physical places, where people can meet and work on their projects - like art, hardware, electronics, robotics, and fashion.
Club Cyberia is a place to learn, work, teach, and collaborate on technologies, art, music, and community.

I would like to give a big THANK YOU to our founding members: Jeb Fawkes, Scott Griepentrog, Andy Hasara, Amy Jenkins, Piero Madar, Michael Martin, Mike Porter, Kyle Randall, Mike Stackhouse, Wes Topping, Jason & Suzanne Voyles, and Kerry Wiegand. Without your support, we all would surely be stuck tinkering alone in our garages for eternity.

NEWS

  • Saturday, March 16th, 2013 - Painting on the classroom continues though the week (Thanks for all who helped!). Suzanne stitched up some dust covers for the machines. Greg Chaney brought in parts and materials for the large CNC. Greg and David traveled up to Goshen,IN for the RepRap Fair. Andy brought in the core of an arcade game to play with, but it looks like iot will be of little use to the MAME cabinet. Kevin found out why his SD Card reader was giving him fits on his Arduino based quiz game. The Enchanted Forest project for Burning Man started working here this week, and the door lock circuit grew a hard protective shell.
  • Saturday, March 9th, 2013 - The classroom received much work, and is ready for the actual paint. Discussion was had over colors and carpet. Piero spent some time taking photos for the Meetup page. Greg prepared the Mendel Max for its journey to the 3D Printer festival next weekend, and Andy has an operational computer in the MAME cabinet. The business meeting notes can be found at Saturday_March_9th,_2013
  • Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 - The MAME Cabinet has arrived, but it needs work (Computer and Controllers). The outside of the Classroom is painted with primer. The exterior window trim is up on the classroom. The blue rotary tool was replaced. More work was done on the Rock-em Sock-em Robots and the Wheelchair base
  • Saturday February 9 - Business Meeting See here for notes Saturday_February_9th,_2013
  • Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 - The Web cam is up as you should someday be able to see above. The classroom is moving along and the power monitor is in place. The Mendel Max is still not completed (It needs some tuning and some parts are too loose), it looks good. New officers got elected at the January meeting.
  • Friday, September 7th, 2012 - Club Cyberia is still running along! We have a bunch of projects going right now. Priority has been given to the Classroom project, however DorkBot group has been hard at work building a 4ft tall rock'em sock'em robot controlled by a X-box Kinect! We also have some cool DMX lighting controller projects coming up as well as "Max" the robot and a motorized wheel chair! The 3D printer project is nearing completion and the space has gained a air conditioner! All is slowing coming together to create one cool awesome space to work at! I would like to thank all of our new members as well as all who visits our Saturday Open Workshop!
  • Thursday, April 29th, 2012 - Club Cyberia has been very busy the last few months. We have been busy working on many different projects. This includes: The Classroom, Door locking system, LED outdoor sign, Computer Server Rack (Donated by SIS Inc.), Mendel Max project, Metal Mill and lathe, and many many more projects. This being said, financial support is a big issue. We need more members to keep our space up and running. In addition we soon hope to have a kick-starter fundraiser to fund our new classroom and electrical work for the space.
  • Sunday, February 19th, 2012 - We are ready to begin work on the classroom. Grab your jersey gloves and hammers and join us on February 25th for some room raising adventures!
  • Saturday, January 29th, 2012 - We are working hard to get the new space ready! Our DSL line should be installed by Tuesday the 31st. At this point we will be working on a new project that is designed to let people know when we have someone at the space.
In addition we are making slow progress on preparing the space for long-term occupation. We are getting closer every day. Our entryway is in the process of being painted/primed. This will be where we begin adding shop equipment. I am going to talk with the in-house electrician next week to see how we can supply a breaker box into our area for use. I for one am getting very excited and can't wait to roll in some equipment and get the space up and running!
  • Saturday, January 7th, 2012 - Thanks to everyone who stopped by! If you have not taken our survey, please do so.

  • Thursday, December 29th, 2011 - I would like to announce some very exciting news.
Club Cyberia may have a new “home”. Several of our members at the last meeting where interested in locating to a new larger space. A location we can call our own and have 24/7 access to.
As such several of our members visited spaces around the city and offered feedback regarding locations. We have narrowed down the choices to one location in particular. After a visit from some of our members, A few of us felt it was a worthwhile endeavor to donate a “reserve” for the space for January to allow our members time to visit the space as well as enough time to vote on a lease. Currently there is only a 1 month reserve with no commitments beyond this time frame.
I am happy to announce our first meeting of the year (January 7th from 1-6pm) will be at 6800 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219. This is the “Indy Self Storage” building just west of Shadleand Ave. This location was once an RCA manufacturing / warehouse. It has a lot of cool “Steampunk” style spaces, but as with any less-expensive place, it is in need of some fixing up. Our landlord is very kind and supportive of our ideas and mission. We have several items to vote on the next Business meeting (January 14th) (Bylaws, Budget, etc..) I plan to have a bylaws updated and frozen by midnight January 5th to give time for people to review them and offer suggestions before voting on the 14th.
These are very exciting times and I hope everyone can join together to make this new club happen!
  • Friday December 23rd, 2011 - I have fixed the code on the front page. Had to add some new extensions and move the Donate button to the task bar, but all is good. :-)
  • Thursday December 22nd, 2011 - As you may see on this page, there is some broken code on the site page. A recent upgrade (needed due to spamming issues) has bronken the SHTML (Again) and will take a bit of time to decipher. I hope to have these issues resolved in the comming few weeks. If anyone else is willing to work with this issue please let me know and I can provide access to the system to do so. Thanks!
  • Wednesday October 23rd, 2011 - There will be a meeting this Saturday for "Project" work. Wes has his CNC router that we will be working on. We plan to do some minor upgrades to it and see if we can get things working better on it. Cheers!
  • Monday October 23th, 2011 - Had another excellent time at Indy Make. We made some progress on Wes's Rep-Rap printer. He had to find some magic commands to re-program his Atmega 644p chip to make it operational again. See the Facebook group page fore more information. I also made some progress in finding out why my Arduino Atmega 328 was acting weird. I am going to attempt to re-load the bootcode on it when I get time this week. Thanks to Mike for letting me use his Uno board to help reload the code on mine!
  • Sunday October 16th, 2011 - We had an excellent time at Indy Make Saturday! Over the coming weeks we will be meeting every Saturday from 1pm - 5pm at Indy Make (See below for address). I will be bringing in some equipment this Saturday as well as a few projects. Some other members are also bringing some equipment. It should be a excellent time! Please bring some friends and family!
